Getting down and dirty in our vacation rentals & choosing to grow slowly.

At the time of writing this our thighs are burning!

We’ve been on our hands and knees doing our annual deep cleanings, once a year when the time is right, we spend hours meticulously cleaning the vacation rentals that we manage. Cleaning out sliding glass door and window tracks, taking apart light fixtures and ceiling fans to clean out the inside of the glass globes, and so on.

Yes, we do have a cleaning team, but for us to maintain the level of quality that we have, then WE MUST BE INVOLVED.

We choose to grow slow. This can be pretty surprising when I tell people that we are very particular about the type of property and investors that we choose to work with, and not just take on any new thing that comes our way.

Because of this we have HUGE NEWS! Over this past year alone, a local vacation rental management company that doubled in the amount of properties did 20% less in revenue then we did. We were shocked when we heard this, but it also reassured our decision.

It's certainly not glamorous to do these deep cleanings, and I can understand why businesses allocate this critical task to others. Yes, I have heard many vacation rental gurus say that "You should be working ON your business, not in IN your business." But, we do consider this working on our business.

We furnished most of the vacation rentals ourselves and I believe that adds another level of care for the places, because we put our time & vision into them we want the places to stay at that level season after season.
